Description
Cricket collection autographs of various famous cricketers mostly from autographs books including Sir Geoffrey Boycott (b.1940) is a retired Test cricketer, who played cricket for Yorkshire and England. In a prolific and sometimes controversial playing career from 1962 to 1986, Boycott established himself as one of England’s most successful opening batsmen. Jeff Thomson (b.1950) is a former Australian cricketer. Known as Thommo, he is considered by many in the sport to be the fastest bowler of cricket history. He was the opening partner of fellow fast bowler Dennis Lillee; their combination was one of the most fearsome in Test cricket history. John Emburey (b. 1952) is a former English first-class cricketer who played for Middlesex, Northamptonshire, Western Province, Berkshire and England. Mike Denness (1940 – 2013) was a Scottish cricketer who played for England, Scotland, Kent and Essex. Scotland did not have a representative international team at the time of Denness’ career, so he could only play for England at Test and ODI level. David Steele (b.1941) is an English former international cricketer. Tony Greig picked him for England in 1975 when he was close to retirement from county cricket for Northamptonshire. Steele, who was born in Bradeley, Stoke on Trent, was a middle order batsman. Mike Brearley (b.1942) is a retired English first class cricketer who captained Cambridge University, Middlesex, and England. He captained the international side in 31 of his 39 Test matches, winning 17 and losing only 4. Alan Knott (b.1946) is a former cricketer who represented England at international level in both Tests and One Day Internationals. Knott is widely regarded as one of the most eccentric characters in cricket and is also regarded as one of the greatest wicket keepers to ever play the game and two other identified autographs, please see photographs for details (one on a small magazine photograph and one on a 1995 scorecard).
