The Chess Player’s Handbook 249. By H. Staunton. Published by Bohn’s Library. 518 pages, plus publisher’s catalogue, dated November 1888. The preface to this volume is dated June 1847. Reasonable copy in publisher’s red boards, decorated and titled in gilt. The front affixed end paper contains the bookplate of Merchant Taylors School and is dated 14/02/1889 and is signed by eight members of the school committee. Unfortunately, this volume lacks all the preliminaries, including the half title and title pages, but for textual purposes, contains all necessary for usage. From single vendors book collection.
