RAF14a Formation of the Sqn By H Ruhl, Claude Mering Both WW1 Pilots. 26 Jul 73 BFPS 1403 60th Anniversary of the Formation of the Squadron. Flown to RAF Akrotiri in VC 10 then in Lightning for air refuelled flight, Cyprus to Leconfield. 5 Squadron. Personally Signed by Hellmuth Ruhl commenced flying 1916 with Fea 8. 1917 served Western front with DFW aircraft. Had 4 victories transferred to the Turkish front 17th Dec 1917 forced down near Haifa captured by the British. Also signed by Claude Mering from 1914 to 1918 flew Sopwith and Breguet on reconnaissance. flew over 100 operations. Details enclosed. Good condition.
