Lot 619:
Sold for: £220
Description
Dambusters, note addressed to Squadron Leader H.M ‘Dinghy’ Young, dated 12th May 1943 just four days before the Dams Raid saying, “If there is any way in which I can help you, please let me know”. One can only speculate what the problem was. The note is signed by Guy Gibson, but we think this was written and signed not by Gibson but by an aide on Gibson’s behalf. Nevertheless, a fantastic piece of 617 Squadron history, we are very sure that this is an extremely rare piece.
