Description
Peter Cushing (1913-1994) vintage Mabel Lucie Attwell colour postcard sent by the actor to his wife Helen, handwritten in his familiar blue ink and dated 14.vii.51 to Mrs Peter Cushing in Paris which reads: ‘My dearest Helen, I do hope you are both having a lovely time. I had some gooseberry “fool” with my lunch today, & it was lovely. Please tell dear Rosita I was so sorry not to be able to give her some holiday pocket money, all my love x Peter x’ with a P.S. ‘Thank you darling for the note you left me xx’. Cushing was a prolific writer to his wife whilst they were apart, often sending postcards by Mabel Lucie Attwell, this one featuring to the front one of her familiar child characters, sucking its thumb next to a teddy bear, and with the caption ‘N’appy Days!’ alongside which Cushing has written ‘Dreamin’ of Mumma’ (he frequently used pet names for his wife, as in this case). Peter Cushing was famously devoted to his wife, Violet Hélène Beck, and in later years Cushing became increasingly reclusive following her death in 1971. Provenance: ex- Peter Cushing Collection: Canterbury Auctions, 2023. Good Condition. All autographs come with a Certificate of Authenticity. We combine postage on multiple winning lots and can ship worldwide. UK postage from £5.99, EU from £7.99, Rest of World from £9.99
